For some of us, the festival of lights doesn’t spark the joy that it once used to. The joy, the celebrations, the festivities and the fireworks – they’ve only become memories.
Most of us still stay strong. If not for us, then for our loved ones. Because for the rest of the year, we worry about our finances. The money we have, or in some cases, don’t. The debts we owe. The commitments that we are trying our best to live up to. For one day, we set it all aside to pray for better financial fortunes going forward.
But for those of us who face financial struggles on a daily basis, the pain and suffering doesn’t let us enjoy our lives for a single moment. Everything is reduced to money. Family, relatives, friends and beyond.
Our stock markets and banking system haven’t done much either. The word “trust” is thrown around but the ecosystem has given birth to more fraudsters and scamsters than genuine people that we could rely on. As a country, we place our faith in gold more than we ever will with banks and the stock markets. And who can blame us?
I am not an Investment Advisor (RIA) registered under the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI). There are some steps being taken to make it easier for people to become RIAs. But in this day and age, where there are only 944 RIAs for a country that is 1.5 billion strong, the rules are poorly made and we are suffering for it
